My Views

Every child has a voice, every child has a chance.
I believe in and care about our schools and our students; they are the heart and soul of our community.  I want to continue to improve our schools and ensure that our children receive the best possible education given our resources and that each student is afforded opportunities based on a solid educational background.  Our Pre-K program is an amazing program and I hope that we can continue to expand it. I have been lucky enough to have one child go through it and my second child will be going in the fall, it advances our children from an educational standpoint and  helps them build bonds with teachers and friends.  On the opposite end of early education, we need to enhance our resources at the high school including creating a guidance counseling program that will help our students in making the right decisions and to know what options are available to them.

A strong partnership between administration, faculty and our parent/guardians
In order for our schools and our community to continue to grow we need to have open dialogue.  I want to hear your thoughts and views on our schools.  I will take your hopes and turn them into action and together we can continue to build a stronger school district. The school community should represent the community that we live in and I will encourage parents to be more involved  especially within our classrooms.  We need to continue to foster an open door policy so that parents are included in conversations and are able to successfully reach out to teachers and administrators.

Resources for students and teachers
I will work to ensure that every school has the resources needed for students to excel - competent, qualified teachers, support personnel and teaching resources.  Teaching aides throughout elementary schools will be an asset to not only our students but our teachers.  In addition, our students need to be exposed to technology at a younger age and computers should be a tool that are used on a daily basis, by students  at all levels, to help drive success.

Safety and Security
This is a hot topic right now and like every district out there we have policies in place to keep our schools safe  I will continue to make sure that those policies are the most effective.  Schools are not created to lock people out but to welcome everyone inside and unfortunately in the age we live in we need to walk a fine line between being welcoming and ensuring the safety of our students and staff.  Anti-Bullying programs are another way to keep our students safe and currently we have a program that exists right now that is accessible to all but not everyone is aware of.  With continued education and training on this topic I will address the needs of our families and will work on addressing this.
